The site author is botanist, floodplain wetland researcher who studies Ob and Irtysh basin floodplains since 1986.

Main interests: floodplain flora and vegetation, syntaxonomy (phytosociology), successional dynamics, spatial structure and mapping of the vegetation, rare wetland plants and plant communities, reserved natural territories, Red and Green Books, floodplain ephemerous vegetation.

Main studied vegetation classes: Lemnetea, Potametea, Platyhypnidio-Fontinalietea antipyreticae, Isoeto-Nanojuncetea, Bidentetea, Phragmito-Magnocaricetea, Molinio-Arrhenatheretea, Salicetea purpureae, Alnetea glutinosae, Brachypodio pinnati-Betuletea pendulae.

The author favourite species are floodplain ephemers: Coleanthus subtilis, Scirpus lateriflorus, Lindernia procumbens, Eleocharis ovata, Middendorfia borysthenica, Peplis alternifolia, Cyperus fuscus, Limosella aquatica etc.
